Methodology & Session Breakdown

Sessions will be centred around the following topics, adapted appropriately for age group. We are able to tailor the choice of topics for each individual community, dependant on cultural needs, relevance, and comfort level. Please get in touch to discuss further.

Each session will involve elements of somatic, embodied, and mindfulness techniques; journalling; discussion; and“teaching moments” that will then result in physical exercises and tasks that allow the participants to integrate the new information into felt and embodied knowledge. Expressive arts-based approaches to education are known to promote emotional resilience and behavioural change. Some of the exercises might involve movement, vocal work, sensory-based tasks, games, and partner-work:

  • Embodiment and Our Relationship with our Bodies

  • Consent and Listening to Ourselves

  • Sexual and Pleasure Anatomy

  • Intimacy and Touch

  • Social Media, Body Image, and Sense of Self

  • Relationships with our Gender

  • Embracing Puberty, Menstruation and Our Rhythms

  • Healthy “Fight,” Resilience and Our Nervous Systems

  • Self-Trust and Voicing My Needs

  • Shame and Other Difficult Emotions

  • Healing Bullying Culture through Sistering

  • Somatic & Movement Practices to develop interoceptive awareness

  • Mindfulness Techniques to develop self-knowledge & resilience

  • Journaling to practice self-reflection and self-compassion

  • Partner Work to develop consent negotiation & collaboration skills

  • Group Discussions to address real-life issues & self-care strategies

All exercises will be offered in a safe and non-judgemental environment where participation is always optional and adapted for different anatomies, needs, and comfort levels, with sensitivity towards diversity and inclusivity.

“I feel awakened, challenged, and liberated.”

“I am a wheelchair user and all tasks were adapted for me. I am grateful Lauren suggested alternatives for my body. It was very inclusive—that doesn’t happen often.”

“Despite exploring discomfort, I felt safe. I owe that to Lauren's masterful facilitation skills.”
